The Blitzkrieg Bop!! / Havana Affair

The opening track and debut single that essentially formalized the three-chord blueprint of punk rock. Written primarily by drummer Tommy Ramone with lyrical contributions from bassist Dee Dee Ramone, the track's furious, down-stroked momentum completely stripped rock music of its 1970s progressive excess. The iconic 'Hey ho, let's go!' chant was directly inspired by the Bay City Rollers' bubblegum hit 'Saturday Night'.
