Rhythm Is a Dancer

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Dominated by a monumental, minor-key synthesizer riff borrowed from Newcleus, this track helped codify the highly lucrative Eurodance formula of the 1990s. The song pairs soaring, diva-style vocals from Thea Austin with Turbo B's rap verses, which infamously include the widely mocked lyric comparing the rhythm to cancer. Despite the lyrical clumsiness, its undeniable groove secured it a position as one of the best-selling singles of the decade.
