Bipp / Elle

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Arriving with startling originality, 'Bipp' stripped dance music down to elastic bass frequencies, hyper-processed helium vocals, and synthetic, liquid-like textures. Eschewing traditional drum kits for metallic claps and synthetic pops, the track heralded the arrival of the PC Music-adjacent hyperpop movement. SOPHIE's immaculate sound design challenged the boundaries between underground club music and saccharine commercial pop.
