- Born: September 17, 1986 in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
- Died: January 30, 2021 in Athens, Greece
Biography
Glasgow-born producer SOPHIE (1986-2021) pioneered a hyperkinetic, synthesized pop sound with 'Bipp' (2013), 'Product' (2015) and the Grammy-nominated 'Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides' (2018). Associated with *PC Music* and a producer for *Charli XCX* and *Madonna*, she treated synthesis as sculpture, building tracks from sounds resembling stretched plastic and bursting bubbles. She died in Athens in 2021, and the posthumous album 'Sophie' appeared in 2024.
