Dedicated to the memory of her younger brother, the Brooklyn-based Pakistani vocalist intertwines Sufi poetry with minimalist jazz and chamber folk instrumentation. Singing primarily in Urdu, she delivers incredibly emotive, floating vocal performances over delicate harp and acoustic guitar arrangements. The universally praised album earned her a Grammy for Best Global Music Performance, a historic first for a Pakistani artist.
