Album Notes & Community Reviews

Continuing his post-prison trajectory entirely away from black metal, Varg Vikernes delves completely into medieval ambient and dungeon synth. Using exclusively keyboards, traditional acoustic instruments, and whispered vocal chants, the compositions attempt to evoke ancient European mythology and pre-Christian paganism. The repetitive, minimalist approach received highly polarized reception even within his dedicated fanbase.
