Burzum

Burzum

Burzum is a Norwegian black metal project founded in 1991 by Varg Vikernes. It became known for its raw, atmospheric sound and minimalist production, helping define the second wave of black metal. Albums such as Hvis lyset tar oss and Filosofem are considered highly influential for their repetitive structures and dark, ambient textures. The project’s history is overshadowed by Vikernes’ conviction for murder and church arson in 1994. Despite enduring controversy, Burzum has had a lasting impact on black metal and related ambient genres.
