Album Notes & Community Reviews

Spearheaded by bassist Bill Laswell, Material's debut full-length is a relentlessly driving, highly technical collision of avant-garde jazz and New York dance-punk. Featuring blistering guitar work from Sonny Sharrock, 'Memory Serves' is a fiercely rhythmic, deeply energetic instrumental album that perfectly captures the manic, eclectic anxiety of the Downtown music scene.
