A key document of the late-60s post-bop and spiritual jazz movement. The album reflects a deep engagement with the Black Arts Movement and advanced musical concepts, featuring powerful modal pieces penned by pianist Stanley Cowell and fiery solos from Gary Bartz and Charles Tolliver. Anchored by Roach's masterful drumming, it's a powerful statement of both musical and social consciousness.
