Milagre dos peixes

Defined by an act of political defiance, 'Milagre dos Peixes' is a largely instrumental work shaped by the censorship of the Brazilian military regime. Faced with the redaction of his lyrics, Milton Nascimento chose to record the compositions with wordless vocables, scat-singing, and falsetto, transforming his voice into a pure and potent instrument of protest. The resulting sound blends jazz and classical arrangements with regional Brazilian folk traditions, creating an ambitious and emotionally charged statement that uses musical experimentation as a response to oppression.
