NEU! '75

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'NEU! '75' documents the stark creative dichotomy between the band's two members, presenting a bifurcated structure that reflects their divergent musical philosophies. The first side showcases Michael Rother's preference for ambient, pastoral soundscapes recorded as a duo, while the second side introduces two additional drummers to realize Klaus Dinger's aggressive, rock-oriented vision. This latter half, particularly on the snarling proto-punk track "Hero," proved highly influential on punk and new wave, contrasting sharply with the album's initial tranquil mood and cementing the record as a landmark of German experimental rock.
