Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Norwegian ensemble expanded upon their foundational sound by heavily emphasizing the dramatic contrast between Raymond Rohonyi's guttural growls and Liv Kristine's angelic soprano. Recorded under the guidance of producer Pete Coleman, the compositions utilize sweeping string arrangements and deeply poetic Early Modern English lyricism. Its massive success across Europe firmly established the 'beauty and the beast' vocal dynamic as a permanent fixture within the atmospheric metal underground.
