Aesop Rock

Biography

Aesop Rock, born Ian Bavitz, is an American rapper and producer celebrated for his exceptionally dense and abstract lyricism, which is considered to have one of the largest vocabularies in hip-hop. Emerging from New York's underground scene in the late 1990s, he became a central figure at *El-P*'s #Definitive Jux# label. His style is marked by complex wordplay, surreal narratives, and intricate rhyme schemes. Albums like 'Labor Days' and 'The Impossible Kid' showcase his evolution from gritty, sample-heavy production to a more refined, though still experimental, sound, cementing his status as a unique and influential voice in alternative hip-hop.
