Biography
Against Me! is an American punk rock band formed in 1997 by singer and guitarist Laura Jane Grace. Starting as a solo acoustic act in Naples, Florida, the project evolved into a full band in Gainesville, known for its blend of folk-punk, anarcho-punk, and alternative rock. After building a following with early releases on indie labels like #No Idea Records# and #Fat Wreck Chords#, including the albums 'Against Me! Is Reinventing Axl Rose' and 'Searching for a Former Clarity', the band signed to #Sire Records# for 2007's 'New Wave'. The band's trajectory was profoundly shaped by Grace's public gender transition in 2012, which informed their critically acclaimed sixth album, 'Transgender Dysphoria Blues'.
