Biography
Antibalas are a Brooklyn afrobeat ensemble founded in 1998 by saxophonist MartÃn Perna and modelled on *Fela Kuti*'s *Africa 70*, with jazz, funk, dub and Latin elements. Albums from 'Liberation Afro Beat Vol. 1' to the Grammy-nominated 'Fu Chronicles' and the instrumental 'Hourglass' made them, in *The Guardian*'s words, one of the world's finest afrobeat bands, and members formed the house band for the Broadway musical 'Fela!'.
