Biography
An American indie rock band formed in Brooklyn in 2015, Big Thief merges the narrative focus of folk with the textural possibilities of rock and Americana. The group’s sound is defined by the intricate, personal songwriting of Adrianne Lenker, whose lyrics explore themes of pain, love, and identity with visceral detail. Their musical approach evolves from raw, folk-tinged arrangements to more expansive and experimental sonic palettes, often capturing performances with a live, un-doctored immediacy. This dynamic of vulnerable lyricism and chameleonic instrumentation has positioned the band as a significant force in contemporary indie music.
