Bill Dixon

A trumpeter, composer, and central figure in the 1960s jazz avant-garde. He was a master of texture and space, often using his orchestra to create slowly evolving soundscapes rather than conventional compositions. He was a key organizer of the 'October Revolution in Jazz' festival.
