Biography
Dee Dee Ramone, born Douglas Glenn Colvin, was the iconic, high-energy bassist and a founding member of the Ramones. As the band's most prolific songwriter, he penned or co-wrote classics like "53rd & 3rd," "Commando," and "Poison Heart," defining the sound and attitude of punk rock. After leaving the Ramones in 1989, he embarked on a varied solo career, including a notorious foray into hip-hop as Dee Dee King with the album 'Standing in the Spotlight'. He later returned to punk with projects like Dee Dee Ramone I.C.L.C. and a Ramones tribute band, The Ramainz, cementing his legacy as a punk pioneer until his death in 2002.
