Biography

Don Pullen was an American jazz pianist and organist noted for a percussive, glissando rich technique that remained rooted in the blues. After early free jazz recordings with *Giuseppi Logan* and *Milford Graves*, he gained fame in *Charles Mingus*'s 1970s band and co-led a long running quartet with *George Adams*. His leader albums for #Blue Note Records# and his African-Brazilian Connection, formed in 1990, confirmed him as one of the most distinctive pianists of his generation.
