Biography
Elvis Costello & The Attractions were the English singer-songwriter's iconic backing band, instrumental in defining the sound of new wave and power pop. Formed in London, the quartet—comprising the inventive Steve Nieve on keyboards, the melodic and driving Bruce Thomas on bass, and the powerful Pete Thomas on drums—first recorded together on 1978's landmark album 'This Year's Model'. Known for their tight, aggressive, and musically sophisticated interplay, they released a string of critically acclaimed albums, including 'Armed Forces' and 'Imperial Bedroom'. Their sound fused the energy of punk with sharp, literate songwriting, creating hits like 'Oliver's Army' and 'Pump It Up' before their eventual dissolution.
