Biography
Isis was an American band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1997, before relocating to Los Angeles. They were pioneers of the post-metal genre, blending the atmospheric textures of post-rock with the crushing weight of sludge and doom metal. Drawing influence from bands like *Neurosis* and *Godflesh*, Isis became known for lengthy, complex compositions that focused on repetition and gradual evolution. Their seminal albums, including 'Oceanic' and 'Panopticon', released on #Ipecac Recordings#, are considered landmarks of the genre. The band's stable lineup for most of its existence featured Aaron Turner, Jeff Caxide, Aaron Harris, Michael Gallagher, and Bryant Clifford Meyer. They officially disbanded in 2010.
