Biography
American jazz pianist Jack Wilson, born in Chicago in 1936 and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, was a vigorous hard bop player with formidable technique. After working with *Dinah Washington* and in *Gerald Wilson*'s big band in Los Angeles, he led a run of admired 1960s albums for #Blue Note#, among them 'Something Personal', 'Easterly Winds' and 'Song for My Daughter'. The 'Easterly Winds' sextet, with *Lee Morgan* and *Jackie McLean*, is often cited as his finest session. Wilson spent much of the 1970s in studio work, returned with further leader dates in the late 1970s, and made his last recording session in 1993. He died in Northport, New York, in 2007.
