Biography
James McMurtry is a Texas singer-songwriter whose terse, novelistic songs chronicle small-town American life. The son of novelist Larry McMurtry, he debuted with 'Too Long in the Wasteland' (1989) and reached a career peak with 'Childish Things' (2005), home to 'We Can't Make It Here'. 'Just Us Kids', 'Complicated Game' and 'The Horses and the Hounds' confirm his reputation for unsentimental, closely observed writing.
