Biography
Universally acclaimed as one of the preeminent piano trios in jazz history, the collaboration between Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock, and Jack DeJohnette redefined the art of interpreting the Great American Songbook. Formed in 1983 for what was intended as a one-off recording session for the #ECM# label, their immediate and profound chemistry led to a partnership spanning over three decades. Known informally as 'The Standards Trio', their performances were exercises in telepathic improvisation, deconstructing and reassembling familiar melodies with unparalleled creativity and grace. Their prolific output, consisting mostly of live recordings like 'Still Live' and 'At the Blue Note', captured their dynamic interplay and became a benchmark for collective improvisation.
