Keith Rowe

Keith Rowe

Keith Rowe is a pioneering English guitarist and painter, celebrated for his revolutionary approach to the electric guitar. A co-founder of the influential free-improvisation group AMM, Rowe is credited with developing the 'tabletop guitar' technique, placing the instrument flat and manipulating it with various objects including fans, clips, and radios. This method deconstructed conventional guitar playing, treating the instrument as a pure sound source. Inspired by painters like *Jackson Pollock*, Rowe's conceptual shift influenced generations of musicians in experimental music, noise, and electroacoustic improvisation, with many of his significant recordings released on the #Erstwhile Records# label.
