Biography
King Tubby (1941 to 1989), born Osbourne Ruddock, was a Jamaican sound engineer and producer credited with inventing dub and pioneering the remix. Working first on Kingston sound systems and then at #Treasure Isle#, he used echo, reverb and radical remixing to rebuild reggae recordings around bass and drums. Albums such as 'Dub From the Roots' and 'King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown', made with *Augustus Pablo*, made his Waterhouse studio the centre of dub and his influence permanent across reggae, dance and electronic music.
