Biography
Kitaro is the stage name of Masanori Takahashi, a Japanese composer from Toyohashi who moved from the progressive rock band Far East Family Band in the 1970s to a solo career built on synthesizers. His 'Silk Road' music for NHK television in 1980 made him a central figure in new age music, and albums such as 'Tenku', 'The Light of the Spirit' and 'Kojiki' joined film work including the Golden Globe winning score for 'Heaven and Earth'.
