Biography
Martin Denny (1911–2005) was a New York-born American pianist, composer and bandleader who created exotica in 1950s Honolulu. His combo, featuring vibraphonist *Arthur Lyman* and percussionist Augie Colón, blended Latin rhythms, jazz and imitated jungle sounds; their album 'Exotica' (1957) on #Liberty Records# and the 1959 hit single "Quiet Village" launched the tiki-era lounge craze. Denny recorded dozens of albums and performed into his nineties.
