Biography
Maruja is a Manchester-formed quartet known for a volatile fusion of post-punk, free jazz, noise rock, and spoken word. The group鈥檚 sound is defined by its raw, cathartic energy, merging aggressive, intricate arrangements with the textural dominance of the saxophone. They first gained wider attention with their 2023 EP, 'Knocknarea', which codified their genre-defying approach. Built upon a foundation of collective improvisation and noted for intense, immersive live performances, the band has shaped a distinct identity within the UK's experimental music landscape.
