Biography
Mayhem is a pioneering Norwegian black metal band formed in 1984, whose controversial history and raw, aggressive sound defined the genre's second wave. Their early career was marked by notorious live shows, the 1991 suicide of vocalist Dead, and the 1993 murder of guitarist *Euronymous*. The band's landmark debut album, 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas', released on #Deathlike Silence Productions#, is considered a quintessential black metal classic. Despite a temporary split, the band reformed in 1995 and has continued to evolve, exploring avant-garde and industrial elements on albums like 'Grand Declaration of War' for #Season of Mist#, cementing their legacy as one of extreme metal's most influential and enduring acts.
