Biography
Mekons are a Leeds post-punk collective formed in 1976 by art students including Jon Langford and Tom Greenhalgh. Peers of *Gang of Four*, they began with raw, satirical punk singles on #Fast Product#, then reinvented themselves in the mid-1980s by mixing punk with folk and country music on 'Fear and Whiskey' (1985). With vocalist Sally Timms and violinist Susie Honeyman at the core of the long-running lineup, the band has kept recording and touring as a collective for nearly five decades, most recently with 'Horror' (2025).
