Biography
MX-80 Sound are an American art rock band formed in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1974 by guitarist Bruce Anderson and bassist Dale Sophiea, with Rich Stim (vocals, saxophone) and Dave Mahoney (drums) completing the classic lineup. After 'Hard Attack' (1977) on #Island Records#, they moved to San Francisco and #Ralph Records# for 'Out of the Tunnel' (1980) and 'Crowd Control' (1981), an influential mix of metallic guitar, noise and deadpan humour. Founder Anderson died in 2022, and 'Better Than Life' (2023) was billed as their final album.
