Biography
Noir Désir was a French rock band from Bordeaux, active from 1980 to 2010. Singer Bertrand Cantat, guitarist Serge Teyssot-Gay, drummer Denis Barthe and bassists Frédéric Vidalenc and Jean-Paul Roy made poetic, politically charged French-language rock, and albums such as 'Tostaky' and '666.667 Club' made them France's leading rock band of the 1990s. The band ended after Cantat's imprisonment in 2003, splitting formally in 2010.
