Biography
Operation Ivy was an American ska punk band from Berkeley, California, formed in May 1987 by singer Jesse Michaels, guitarist Tim Armstrong, bassist Matt Freeman and drummer Dave Mello. A fixture of the 924 Gilman Street scene, the band signed to #Lookout Records#, released the EP 'Hectic' (1988) and its only studio album, 'Energy' (1989), then broke up in May 1989 rather than accept a major label deal. Armstrong and Freeman later formed *Rancid*.
