Panopticon

Panopticon

Panopticon is the American atmospheric black metal project of multi-instrumentalist Austin Lunn, founded in 2007. Known for its unique fusion of black metal with Appalachian folk, bluegrass, and Americana, the project is a studio-only endeavor driven entirely by Lunn, who writes and performs all music. The sound is characterized by the integration of traditional metal instrumentation with folk instruments like banjos, fiddles, and acoustic guitars. Lyrically, Panopticon explores themes of history, nature, politics, and personal struggles, gaining significant recognition with the 2012 album 'Kentucky', which celebrated the musical and cultural heritage of Lunn's home state.
