Biography
Poco were a Los Angeles country rock band founded in 1968 by Richie Furay, Jim Messina and steel guitarist Rusty Young after the breakup of *Buffalo Springfield*. Young's pedal steel, Dobro and mandolin work gave their harmony rich folk rock a sound distinct from the *Eagles* model that followed. With Timothy B. Schmit and later Paul Cotton aboard, records like 'Crazy Eyes' and 'Rose of Cimarron' balanced pastoral songwriting with a firmer rock drive. Young remained the sole constant member until his death in 2021 ended the band.
