Biography
Formed in Hereford in 1978 around Akron-born Chrissie Hynde, Pretenders fused punk energy with classic pop craft. Their 1980 debut 'Pretenders', released by #Sire Records#, is among the most celebrated albums in rock, and despite the early deaths of James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon and decades of line-up changes, Hynde has kept the band recording and touring, from 'Learning to Crawl' (1984) through to 'Relentless' (2023).
