Sleep

Sleep

Sleep is a seminal American stoner and doom metal band from San Jose, California. Formed in 1990 from the ashes of the band *Asbestosdeath*, the group became one of the most influential acts in the genre. Their second album, 1992's 'Sleep's Holy Mountain' released by #Earache Records#, is a landmark of 90s metal. They are most famous for their sprawling, hour-long song and album, 'Dopesmoker', the recording of which led to conflicts with their label, #London Records#, and the band's initial breakup. After splitting, members formed the acclaimed bands *High on Fire* and *OM*. Sleep reunited in 2009 and released the celebrated comeback album 'The Sciences' in 2018.
