Steve Roach

- Type: Musician
- Born: February 16, 1955 in La Mesa, California, United States
Biography
American ambient composer from La Mesa, California, a pioneer of long-form electronic music. 'Dreamtime Return' (1988) established his style of sequenced synthesis dissolving into vast, beatless space, and later works such as 'The Magnificent Void' (1996) and the 'Immersion' series extended it. Based in the Arizona desert, Roach has issued over a hundred albums, many of them on #Projekt Records#, and his music draws on landscape, deep time and altered perception. His live performances often run for hours without pause, treating the concert as an environment rather than a set list.
