Biography
The Czars were a Denver band formed in 1994 around John Grant (vocals, piano), Chris Pearson (bass) and Jeff Linsenmaier (drums), with guitarists Andy Monley and Roger Green. Their lush, melancholy albums for #Bella Union#, from 'Mood Swing' (1996) to 'Goodbye' (2004), built a cult following before Grant's later solo fame. Label head Simon Raymonde produced the band but was never a member.
