Biography
The Spencer Davis Group was a British beat band formed in Birmingham in 1963 by guitarist Spencer Davis with Steve Winwood on vocals and keyboards, Muff Winwood on bass and Pete York on drums. The group had UK number one singles with 'Keep on Running' and 'Somebody Help Me' and US hits with 'Gimme Some Lovin'' and 'I'm a Man' before Steve Winwood left for *Traffic* in 1967. A second lineup made 'With Their New Face On' (1968), a 1973 reunion made 'Gluggo' and 'Living in a Back Street', and Davis toured under the name until his death in 2020.
