Throbbing Gristle was the English quartet of Genesis P-Orridge, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Peter Christopherson and Chris Carter, formed in London in 1975 out of the performance art group *COUM Transmissions*. Founders of industrial music and of #Industrial Records#, they mixed tape loops, electronics, noise and provocation on albums such as 'The Second Annual Report' and '20 Jazz Funk Greats'. The group split in 1981, reunited in 2004 for 'Part Two: The Endless Not', and ended for good after Christopherson's death in November 2010.
