Biography
Three 6 Mafia formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1991, when DJ Paul and Juicy J joined forces with Lord Infamous. First called Backyard Posse and then Triple Six Mafia, the group pioneered a menacing, bass heavy Memphis rap sound. With Koopsta Knicca, Gangsta Boo and Crunchy Black added, they released 'Mystic Stylez' in 1995 on their own #Prophet Entertainment#. Platinum albums, the hit 'Stay Fly' and an Academy Award for 'It's Hard out Here for a Pimp' followed, and DJ Paul and Juicy J remain the group's core, with Crunchy Black rejoining for reunion shows from 2019.
