Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released shortly after the band's initial dissolution, 'Various Failures' compiles tracks spanning Swans' highly atmospheric, gothic-folk era between 1988 and 1992. Focusing heavily on material from 'White Light from the Mouth of Infinity' and 'Love of Life', the sprawling double album highlights Michael Gira and Jarboe's shift away from brutal industrial noise toward sweeping, apocalyptic neofolk. The collection acts as a haunting epitaph for their critically acclaimed middle period.
