Largely serving as an extended audition for their new guitarist Ronnie Wood, 'Black and Blue' showcases the Rolling Stones at their most groove-oriented and stylistically relaxed. The album is wonderfully playful, wildly eclectic, and beautifully warm, heavily incorporating intensely rhythmic funk-rock and tropical reggae elements into their classic blues-rock framework.
