Biography
Hailing from the Baltimore/DC area, Birth (Defects) created a punishing and confrontational brand of noise rock that drew from hardcore punk and industrial dissonance. Led by the core duo of vocalist Sean Gray and guitarist Rob Savillo, the band's sound was ragged, furious, and aimed to make listeners uncomfortable, earning comparisons to acts like *Killdozer* and *No Trend*. During their primary run, they released several singles on labels like #Reptilian Records#. The band dissolved in 2019 but unexpectedly reunited in 2025 to release their long-shelved album, 'Deceiver / Mirror', a recording from 2017 that encapsulates their abrasive and deeply personal musical vision.
