Boris

Formed in Tokyo in 1992, Boris is a Japanese experimental rock unit recognized for its prolific and stylistically volatile body of work. [1, 2] Initially emerging from a sludge metal and hardcore punk foundation, the trio of Atsuo, Takeshi, and Wata consistently reshapes its sound, moving across drone, noise, shoegaze, ambient, and pop. [1, 3] This refusal to be confined to a single genre is a core tenet of their process, which favors studio improvisation and collaboration. [1, 18] Through a vast catalog that includes over twenty studio albums and numerous collaborations, Boris has defined a career of sonic exploration, influencing a wide spectrum of experimental and heavy music.
