Biography
Candlemass are a Swedish epic doom metal band formed in Stockholm in 1984 by bassist, songwriter and bandleader Leif Edling. Their 1986 debut, 'Epicus Doomicus Metallicus', gave the epic doom genre its name, and with Pentagram, *Saint Vitus* and Trouble they are counted among the big four of doom metal. The classic lineup with singer Messiah Marcolin recorded 'Nightfall', 'Ancient Dreams' and 'Tales of Creation'. Original singer Johan Längqvist returned in 2018, fronting 'The Door to Doom' and 'Sweet Evil Sun'.
