Biography

Four Tops are a Detroit vocal quartet formed in 1953 and one of the defining acts of the Motown sound. The original line-up of Levi Stubbs, Abdul 'Duke' Fakir, Renaldo 'Obie' Benson and Lawrence Payton stayed intact until Payton's death in 1997. Their #Motown Records# hits, many written by *Holland-Dozier-Holland*, include 'I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)', 'Reach Out I'll Be There', 'Standing in the Shadows of Love' and 'Bernadette'. The group still performs with a successor line-up of Ronnie McNeir, Theo Peoples, Lawrence Payton Jr. and Michael Brock.
