Nicknamed 'Klook,' Kenny Clarke was a revolutionary figure who pioneered the bebop style of drumming. He shifted the primary time-keeping from the bass drum to the ride cymbal, using the snare and bass drum for sharp, irregular accents ('dropping bombs'), a language still used today.
